All-Japan University Selected Sumo Tournament held on the top of Utatsuyama. Top sumo athletes face off in both team and individual matches. One local team, two from Western Japan and nine from Eastern Japan face off.This tournament is designed for those who aim to turn professional so it’s a chance to see future stars up close. Admission is free and starts at 9am. Take a taxi up the hill then after the sumo enjoy the peaceful 25minute walk down to the back side of Higashi-chaya or follow the road down aiming for the castle or Kenrokuen.12minutes drive from Kanazawa Station.
